I am the manager of a Governance, Risk and Compliance Department of a Legal Service Company in the Republic of South Africa. I am a qualified Compliance Practitioner and hold the CPrac(SA). professional designation of the Compliance Institute Southern Africa, as well as the International Certified Compliance Professional (International Federation of Compliance Associations) designation. I am also a PECB Certified Lead Auditor and Certified Trainer for Lead Auditors in ISO 37301:2021-Compliance Management Systems. I have more than 23 years’ experience in the field of Compliance Management and it is still my passion. Compliance Management provides me with the opportunity to act as a guide, policeman and confessor and I enjoy sharing and gaining knowledge on this topic. . I gained compliance experience in the public and banking sector in South Africa, as well as insurance industry compliance experience, while I was employed in the compliance department of a multinational insurance company in New Zealand. Since joining my current employer in South Africa, I have gained governance, risk and compliance experience through consultation, advisory and implementation these disciplines at various clients in various industries in South Africa, as well as AML/ CFT compliance in six African countries and general compliance for a multi-national organisation with a presence on four continents.
