Samuel Okyere has a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial science from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana where he was the founding president for the Society of Actuarial Science Students. He also has a distinction in a Masters of Risk Management and Finance program from the Business School Netherlands and serves as a learning coach for the tier one European Business School. He is a Lawyer and a PECB Certified Information Security Master and Trainer. He is a qualified ISO 27001 Implementer and Auditor. He is an expert in Enterprise Risk Management, Company and Commercial Law, Strategy and Business Optimisation, Information Security and Corporate Governance and Compliance. His passions span academia, consultancy, social influence and leadership and lectures on a part-time basis at the Institute of Compliance and Cyber Analyst where he teaches Enterprise Risk Management, Ethics and Governance and Cyber Ethics. He works in the banking industry as the Head of Operational and Market Risk for a universal bank in Ghana, coordinating Enterprise Risk Management across the bank. He has authored two books, ‘Fate of System Thinking; Lessons for Decision Optimisation- Stories from UT Bank, Capital Bank and uniBank’ and ‘Be The Difference; A Leadership Roadmap for the New African.’ He has spoken as a conference speaker across many platforms and tertiary institutions including Africa Risk Summit and Africa CyberSpace Conference. He is passionate about youth development and learning. He has worked on several projects including serving on the steering committee for DANIDA-AGRA-UT BANK for Agricultural Finance Scheme in Ghana, he also served as the sole investment advisor on behalf of UT Bank for an EUR 8 Million European Investment Bank direct finance scheme. Whiles at UT Bank, he was the liaison officer for a UT Bank-USAID Direct Guarantee Agreement. He worked at UT Bank as Market Risk Manager and subsequently worked as Operational Risk Manager for Capital bank. He began his career as the project finance analyst for the first premium financing scheme in Ghana and also became responsible for Credit Risk Reporting and Analytics at UT Bank before Market Risk. He is an active member of the Institute of Directors Ghana and serves as secretary of Institute’s Business Development Committee. His book ‘Fate of System Thinking’ is the first and only book that reviews the 2017-2019 banking crisis in Ghana from a policy point of view and teaches how to build more resilient indigenous businesses through an appropriate policy framework. The central theme of the book is, ‘Building to Last’ and how indigenous businesses can learn to do that. His second book tackles the bigger challenge of leadership and culture in Africa and how we can create an African renaissance.
