FMEA 101: How to Effectively Avoid Unintended Project Consequences
FMEA is a design technique for analyzing potential failures of systems including hardware, software, functional and process systems. It is a semi-quantitative method often used to help choose from available options. There are many attributes of options, one of them is how risky they are. In some domains risk is rigorously addressed as a mandatory part of life (eg: the design of a space shuttle), in other domains (marketing programs) risk is often overlooked, or at best handled in inappropriate methods, like voting.
Main points covered:
- Analyzing Potential Failures
- Assessing Risk
- Improved Planning
- How to increase business operations efficiency
Our presenter for this webinar, Bill Bentley, is the owner and founder of Value-Train, a consulting and training business. From 2002 Bill and his team have provided data analytics and process improvement consulting and training to companies and individuals via a variety of delivery methods.
Bill has a BSEE and MSEE from Rensselaer in New York, a recent Masters of Applied Statistics from Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, holds three SAS statistical software certifications along with certifications in R, Python, Tableau, Excel and the Informs Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) certification. In 2016 his statistical analysis of vehicle deaths earned him a finalist spot in an international statistics competition.
Bill is a pro at solving tough real-world business and technical problems, first out of school as a control system engineer with Procter & Gamble, later in increasingly responsible management roles with P&G, Frito-Lay, Nabisco and Rockwell. His employers have been manufacturers of food, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, electronic instrumentation and software and his corporate assignments including engineering, operations management, sales and business turnarounds. Bill’s executive positions have included Director of Technology of an instrument manufacturing company, General Manager of an engineering company and President and CEO of a software company.
