ISO 9001 from the base is for the implementation of a quality management system in an organization and it is also the foundation to all other ISO management systems; ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, as well as ISO 20121, which ever standard you pick. So, with ISO 9001 presently we have the 2015 version, which I consider to be a business management system, what it means basically is, number one your organization will be able to align your business strategy to the international standard, which is ISO 9001:2015 and from there you have formal systems of managing and improving your quality management system, generally all the business management systems, because from there is where you can establish, develop, implement and continually improve. Then you can see if you are going for that and that is the only way you can see if you are meaningfully implementing your business strategy.
The section 4.1, 4.2 of the this new standard, may mandate your organization to really do extensive work on their business objectives, now on which without they cannot do what the standard is asking to do in other area, then when you do all of this, what are the benefits: number one, market advantages, you repeat a better position in the competitive environment of which your company is serving. Also, two, effectiveness and efficiency of your operational system, which is internal and the ultimate is the customer satisfaction, which everybody knows. Now, with you implementing the ISO 9001:2015, that is the most calling version now which we all tend to, then there is an assurance that you will meet and you will surpass customer needs and expectations if you intensively implement and continue to give assurance. And that is what I consider as immediate impact of implementing ISO 9001 in your organization.
Also, we have to look at the standard that is also talking about interested parties, their needs and expectations. You cannot continually focus on customer satisfaction and not meet the needs of the other stakeholders, we have the people, we have the investor, we have the supplier and the society at large, so, all these other needs and expectations of the interested parties and stakeholders should be met, because they are now the requirements of the standard and those are the areas where most organizations have neglected. Which picking the standard up now and from there you can go on. And we have some companies that have dealt with industry needs for specifications; they have implemented 27001 and other standards. They have eventually said that the holistic approach to implementing management systems is by starting from 9001.
