How long does it take to get my exam results?

For multiple choice exams paper-based it takes approximately two to four weeks(2-4) after the exam date to get the results. If this time has passed and you have not received your results, please contact us by dropping a service ticket.

For multiple choice exams online you will get the results immediately after you submit the exam.

Prompt notification of exam results is very important; we will make every effort to provide results as soon as possible.

I did not pass the exam. What is the retake policy?

There is no limit on the number of times a candidate may retake an exam. However, there are some limitations in terms of allowed time-frame in between exam retakes, such as:

  • If a candidate does not pass the exam on the first attempt, he/she must wait 15 days for the next attempt (1st retake). Retake fee applies.

Note: Students, who have completed the full training but failed the written exam, are eligible to retake the exam once for free within a 12 month period from the initial date of the exam.

  • If a candidate does not pass the exam on the second attempt, he/she must wait 3 months (from the initial date of the exam) for the next attempt (2nd retake). Retake fee applies.
  • If a candidate does not pass the exam on the third attempt, he/she must wait 6 months (from the initial date of the exam) for the next attempt (3rd retake). Retake fee applies.

After the fourth attempt, a waiting period of 12 months from the last session date is required, in order for a candidate to sit again for the same exam. Regular fee applies.

For the candidates that fail the exam in the 2nd retake, PECB recommends attending an official training in order to be better prepared for the exam.

To arrange exam retakes (date, time, place, costs), the candidate needs to contact the PECB Reseller who has initially organized the session.

I have passed the exam, what is the next step?

All participants who successfully pass their certification exam (or an equivalent accepted by PECB) are entitled to apply for the PECB credentials they were examined for. Specific educational and professional requirements may be needed for you to be PECB certified. Candidates will need to fill out the online certification application form (see the online manual from this link), including contact details of references who will be contacted to validate the candidate’s professional experience.

Once PECB has validated that you fulfill all the certification requirements, you will be informed by e-mail of our decision and a copy of electronic certificate in PDF will be uploaded to your PECB user account.

I passed the exam. What is my score?

The examination results will not include the exact grade in numbers or percentage, only a mention of pass or fail.

What is the exam-grading process?

Panels of experts evaluate every exam to ensure that the grading process provides an accurate assessment of the candidate’s proficiency. These experts establish the passing score for the exam and also use statistical analysis to make sure that different versions of the exam are equally challenging.

Currently, it takes between 6 to 8 weeks for our examination team to grade and provide results on essay type exams, and 2 to 4 weeks on multiple-choice exams.

PECB is working on an online examination system that will speed the exam-grading process to 48 hours for essay type and instant results upon submission for multiple-choice exams.

What is the passing score on a certification exam?

It depends on the exam. Each exam has a passing score that might be the same or different from the other exams. Passing score is determined after psychometric analysis.

Some exams have a minimum score of 70% and some 65%, 69%, 80%,…
